Each September, our signature event – The “Cliff Walk” for A.L.S., takes place along the Cape Cod Canal. This tradition began in 1997 when 35 year-old Cliff Jordan had been living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease for two years; his ability to speak or swallow had been taken by this incapacitating disease.

Cliff decided to hold a fundraising walk along the Cape Cod Canal accompanied by friends and family with proceeds going to Dr. Robert Brown, a leader in A.L.S. research. With only three week’s notice, the first walk drew sixty people and raised $6,000. While Cliff rode his bike seven miles closer to a cure, he was also marking the start of an amazing tradition.

In January of 1998, Edward J. Sciaba lost his battle with A.L.S. That Spring, the disease stole the life of Cliff Jordan, and in 2000, Janice Ferrara also lost her life to ALS.

Grief stricken but resolute that they would not give up until a cure is found, their family members Donna Jordan, Mary Ann (Sciaba) Singersen, Lenny and Tony Ferrara vowed to help others going through the same ordeal.

Brought together by tragic circumstances, the Jordan, Sciaba and Ferrara families joined forces to continue the "Cliff Walk" for A.L.S. in memory of their loved ones and to honor and help all of the individuals and families touched by this disease.

The walk continues to grow each year and has raised over two million dollars since its inception.

21st Annual Cliff Walk for A.L.S. Fundraiser

In loving memory of Clifford Jordan, Jr., Edward J. Sciaba, Sr. and Janice Ferrara

We had an amazing day with our families on Sunday, September 10th, 2017! Here are some highlights from the day:

Thanks to our sponsors, donors, families and everyone who dedicated their time to support our cause, on Sunday, September 10, 2017, we raised over $190,000 for the fight against ALS. These funds support our very necessary In House Patient Programs, which are essential to our patients and their families living with ALS TODAY, and research headed by ALS Therapy Development Institute.
A very special thank you to our generous event sponsor, Lenny & Tony Ferrara of Superior Rail & Iron Works, Inc.
This day truly embraced the word "family". Over 900 participants came together as one, in support of each other and to honor our loved ones. Coming together is powerful and we all did it with the same goal: To help patients TODAY and to find a cure for ALS in the future.
It was a beautiful day and we thank you all for adjusting to our 2017 location. It was a little windy, but the sun was shining and the memory- making was fruitful.
And the top fundraisers are.... *drum role please*
Jeremy & Shelly Dorfman of Team David in first place, Team Georgios in second and Team After Hours Auto Body in third. In the children's category, we have Kayla Shubert for first place and Kelly Penniman came in second.  Congratulations and a job well done!!
 Share your secrets with us!

And a great job to Lillyana Boler for winning the coloring contest!
The day was filled with 7 meaningful miles, raffles, games and good food! The kids enjoyed meeting our superhero friends from Cosplayers for a Cause, the sand art station, the playground, tug-of-war and the coloring competition!
We sincerely hope your whole family enjoyed the day as much as we did.
We would like to thank ALL the teams for their fundraising efforts as well as our generous volunteers, sponsors and staff for all their hard work and dedication. We couldn't do it without you!

Thank you to Board Member Tim Denmark of Denmarks Cleaning Services for donating a flatscreen TV for our heads or tails raffle!

Thank you, as well, to all of the raffle donors, the businesses who donated food for the cookout, Stop & Shop, the Ninety-Nine Restaurant of Wareham, Dino's Sports Bar, Roche Bros, Cape Dairy, and to the Mass Maritime Academy, the Wareham Junior ROTC and the Cape Cod Corvette Club for their help throughout the day.

Thank you to Teddy Mathews and The "Real Deal" for providing entertainment! The band was a hit and there was more dancing than ever this year.

We are positive about the future of combating ALS with your help. The more funds we raise, the more families will benefit and have their needs met. Please continue to support our mission and ongoing fundraising as we strive to make our patients and families lives brighter today, and bring hope for tomorrow.
